A BIT ABOUT ME
I'm a former professional footballer with just under a twenty year career turned Pilates instructor, hoping to pass on my passion for pilates to you. I have a First Class Honours degree in Sports and Exercise Science and I am a qualified APPI Mat work Pilates Instructor. I discovered Pilates early on in my career when I was rushed into hospital with a career ending spinal injury and being told I may never play football again. This was a result of a combination of too much goalkeeping training, lifting too many weights and not listening to my body. The discovery of Pilates was my saviour. I continued to practice Pilates for the remainder of my career, successfully playing over 500 games and played over nineteen seasons. I have been teaching Pilates for two years and would love the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and enthusiasm for pilates to you.
THE APPI PILATES METHOD
Founded in 2001, by two Australian physiotherapists, Glenn and Elisa Withers. They analysed the 34 original Pilates moves created by Joesph Pilates, they found the Pilates exercises weren’t being used to optimally benefit the clients. Using the latest in scientific research they modified the exercises and created a new form of Pilates-based exercises that were a lot more beneficial to the client.
The APPI Pilates methods is now being applied in a diverse range of settings, including physiotherapy injury rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, elite sports rehabilitation, elderly care, women’s health and much more.
